Amy Macdonald (Bishopbriggs (near Glasgow), 25 August 1987) is a Scottish singer. Her debut album This Is the Life in Great Britain came in on second place and in Scotland on the first place. This album also reached gold status in four days time there. In Netherlands was the cd in the first position of the find Album Top 100 . In total they sold more than a million copies of her debut album. [1]

Macdonald is already starting from its fifteenth on stage with acoustic performances. Her music is influenced by Travis and The Libertines. She has a recording contract with Vertigo.

They gave performances In Netherlands for Paul Weller (2007) and in the upper room of Paradiso (3 March 2008). On May 31, 2008 she was also present as well as in August on Pinkpop on Lowlands. In the broadcast of the television program beautiful! Again the Lion of 13 september 2008 she performed with the song Mr. Rock & Roll.On Pinkpop 2009 was Amy on Monday June 1 on the main stage. On 16 november 2010, she appeared on the Heineken Music Hall. On August 6, 2011 she played at theDranouter Festival

They broke through in Europe with the single Mr. Rock & Roll, which among other things a number one position in the Scottish singles chart and earned a number 3 position in Switzerland. Other successful singles are L.A. and This Is the Life, the single that her breakthrough in Netherlands and with which she immediately the biggest solo hit for a female artist scored.

This Is the Life was named at the end of March 2008, 3FM Megahitand then came on april 5, 2008 in in the Single Top 100. The song rose to number one (3 June 2008).This was also in the Top 40 single on 3 June 2008 the number 1. The single is also very popular in Belgium. On 12 september, 2008, the single for 14 weeks in theUltratop 50, which now already 11 weeks at number 1.

Her debut album This Is the Life sells very well in both Netherlands and Belgium. In the second week of August 2008, she was awarded a Golden plate in Belgium, Netherlands and in a Platinum plate. [2]

Mid August was her first Dutch single, Mr. Rock & Roll again released as single.

On March 1, 2010 the new single "Don't Tell Me That it's Over", the first single from her second album A Curious Thing (2010). Her third album, Life in a Beautiful Light, was released in 2012. In Antwerp and in Rotterdam she will be there during the Night of the Proms 2013.
