Blurt is a group around poet, saxophonist and puppeteer Ted Milton, founded in 1979 in StroudGloucestershire. Ted Milton's brother Jake Milton, formerly member of the psychedelic rock band Quintessence, on drums and Peter Creese on guitar. After three albums Creese left the band and was replaced by Steve Eagles, former guitarist for Satan's Rats and The Photos. Shortly thereafter Jake leaves and is replaced by Paul Wigens, with a short interim on drums by Nic Murcott. Eagles was replaced by Chris Vine as guitarist from 1990 to 1994. The latest drummer in the band is Bob Leith, also on drums in The Cardiacs.

Blurt 's compositions are based around repetitive, minimalist guitar and/or saxophone phrases with which Ted Milton orates his lyrics in a range of "voices" or "characters" that betray his background as a puppet theatre maker. The resulting effect is hypnotic, fascinating and at times even "unheimlich".

Blurt has a strong live reputation thanks to, among others, the special theatrical talents of Ted Milton.
