Broken Bells is an American indie rock bandconsisting of Brian Burton (better known as Danger Mouse) and James Mercer, the lead vocalist and guitarist for The Shins. Onseptember 29, 2009 was published this cooperation between Burton and Mercer. [1] [2] [3]

After to have met each other on the first Danish Roskildemusic festival[4] in 2004, they began secretly in March 2008 making recordings in the studio of Burton in Los Angeles. [5] they describe their style as "melodic, but also experimental". [6] Mercer told in an interview with the magazine NME that his work with The Shins to him was heavily and that he therefore was of something else. [7]
On december 21, 2009 made it two known that their first single, "The High Road", was released. This was initially available as a free download on the official site of the group. [8] as the b-side of this single was the instrumental song "An Easy Life" used. [9] On January 27, 2010 , the video clip of "The High Road" premiered on MySpace . [10][11] this video clip was directed by Sophie Muller. [12] [13] [14] [15]
The group performed for the first time Friday 19 February 2010 Burton and Mercer were at this concert on., held in Los Angeles, assisted by four musicians. [16] [17]
The debut album, entitled Broken Bells, was in Europe and the United States on March 9, 2010 released by Columbia Records. [18] [19] the full album leaked out on the internet in december 2009 . [20] Burton told on 9 February 2010 in an interview with Billboard magazine that the leaked album differed from the version that was officially released: "The songs on the version floating around the Web now are mislabeled. There are songs on there that aren't on the final album-it's an old version. " [21] [22] the album also appeared in a Special Edition, in which the album is packaged in a music box. When you open this box is a bonus track, called "Overture", played. [23]
On april 12, 2010, via the social networking site MySpace , issued an ep called The MySpace Transmissions. [24] On 17 may 2010, Billboard magazine announced that Mercer is planning to release a second album with Burton:

In the music video for the second single from Broken Bells, "The Ghost Inside", played a lead role. Christina Hendricks [27] Hendricks gained fame with her role in the television series Mad Men. [27]
Broken Bells started over a month after the release of the debut album on a North American tour. [28] The indie rock band originating from Berkeley, California, The Morning Benders take care it settled the for program. [29] In the summer of 2010, Broken Bells especially on music festivals on. So they stood on 25 June on the Glastonbury Festival and on 17 July on the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. [25] On Friday 20 August 2010 was Broken Bells on the main stage of Lowlands. [30]
