Dark Cabaret is a form of music that's often piano-based with lower-register vocals, that typically has a darker tone. It's called many things, often with the word "Cabaret" in the title, as it often sounds as if it could be coming from a murky nightclub, though an off-kilter one where they sing about death and self-mutilation and other stuff like that. It's often with a sense-of-humor and also as part of the goth subculture. Some Cabaret acts aren't nearly as dark as most Dark Cabaret (for example, The Ditty Bops), though they're still similar and might be called neo-cabaret along with all of these other acts.
