David Eric "Dave" Grohl (born January 14, 1969) is an iconic American rock musician, multi-instrumentalist, and singer-songwriter. He is best known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter for the rock band Foo Fighters; the former drummer for legendary grunge band Nirvana and punk rock band Scream; and the current drummer for the supergroup Them Crooked Vultures. Grohl has also spearheaded the short-lived side projects Late! and Probot, and has been involved with Queens of the Stone Age, among others.

Grohl's music career began in the 1980s as the drummer for several Washington, D.C., area bands. His big break came when he joined Nirvana in 1990. After the tragic end of Nirvana, Grohl formed Foo Fighters, where he shifted to playing guitar and lead vocals. Under his leadership, Foo Fighters became one of the most successful rock bands of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
