Elbow is a musical group from Manchester, consisting of singer Guy Garvey, keyboardist Craig Potter, bassist Pete Turner, drummer Richard Jupp and guitarist Mark Potter. The Group was founded in 1991 under the name Mr. Soft, later changed to Soft and the band got the present name in 1997. Their first album was released In 2001 and in 2003 their second, that was very well received. The group is now a band with growing popularity, as can be seen on the chart performance of their last albums. The music from Elbow consists of well-founded musical landscapes with there over the bearing voice of the singer Guy Garvey. In 2008, Elbow the Mercury Music Prize for their album The Seldom Seen Kid and in February 2009 the Brit Award for best British band.
In september 2010, the band announced on its site to the successor of The Seldom Seen Kid will bring out in early 2011. The album Build a Rocket Boys! appeared in March 2011. The first single Lippy Kids gave them their first Top 40hit in the Netherlands. The song came to the 29th position in the list.
In 2011, Elbow in Netherlands on during Pinkpop and Lowlands. This includes recordings made for a live album.
In the autumn of 2013 came Live from Jodrell Bank , a dvd and two CDs, recorded at the foot of the Lovell radio telescope (diameter 76 m) of the Jodrell Bank Observatory in Manchester, United Kingdom.
