Engelbert Humperdinck (actually: Arnold George Dorsey) (MadrasIndiamay 2, 1936) is a British pop singer who primarily fame in the years 5060 and 70.

Life Course[Edit]Edit

Engelbert Humperdinck as Arnold Dorsey was born in India, but the family, including nine brothers and sisters, emigrated in 1946 to Leicester in Great Britain. He took at some stage the name to Engelbert Humperdinck , which later on came to be him, a process against him filed by the heirs of the famous German composer Engelbert Humperdinck. There is no relationship between them.

In 1966, before his great glory years, he performed regularly in Belgium , especially in Knokke and Mechelen. In Zeebrugge was recorded a video clip. Belgium was the cradle of Humperdinck's success. [1[2He scored in Flanders 6 number 1 hits and trailed all together 32 weeks on the top position. He sold 150 million records and got for that 72 gold and 23 platinum records.

At the end of June 2007, he was in the Netherlands along with Toppers & top dancers Raul Babbar & Charissa Vaughn six times in the Amsterdam ArenA.

The BBC announced In March 2012 Humperdinck as the British entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. He represented the United Kingdom with the song Love Will Set You Free, written by Martin Terefe and Sacha Skarbek. The United Kingdom was directly qualified for the final, in which Humperdinck right away if first took office.Humperdinck ended on the 25th and penultimate place.
