Michael Elms (b. July 11, 1987) known by his stage name Fat-Ass-Mike is an American rapper who, in 2008, begun rapping with his 2 friends. Michael or Mike gained slight popularity on the internet in March 2008 when he released his 1st studio album, Gangstaz for free download. He gained slightly more popularity later that month when he released his fourth single, Speakin' at You. His next album entitled Doin' Time is scheduled for release in 2010.
Early Life Edit
Michael Elms was born on July 11th, 1987 in Rochester, New York. Not much is known about his early childhood except that both of his parents were killed by gunshot in 1991 when he was only 4 years old. Shortly after his parents died Mike and his brother Damon moved to New York City with his aunt. In 1999 at age 15 Mikes brother Damon was shot and killed by a local gang leaving Mike as an only child living with his aunt.
Early music career Edit
Mike began rapping in early 2008 by recording various experimental freestyles such as the one featured on Gangstaz. When asked about his inspirations he said Big Pun and Notorious BIG were among his biggest however Eminem, Tupac Shakur, Kanye West and Nas inspired him greatly as well. In 2008 he released 2 singles, Gangstaz and Get at You, both of which were hits among his online fanbase.
Singles and Gangstaz Edit
In January 2009 an old song recorded in Summer 2008 was released called Lunatic. After creating several beats and collecting most of his music he released his album Gangstaz which you can listen to here. To spread it he also launched a youtube channel under the name FatAssMikeRap to attract more fans.
Speakin' at You Edit
In late March 2009 Mike recorded and released his 4th single and 1st single off of Gangstaz. The song entitled Speakin' At You was a rap about speaking the truth and getting locked up for it. It has thusfar been unsuccessful.
Mike plans for his Doin' Time album to be released sometime in late 2009 or early 2010. In the meantime he may send some of his popular tracks to underground radio stations in his hometown of Newark, NJ. After that he expects more popularity and to have his songs played across the region and possibly the nation.
