Bon Iver is an American Indie rock band. They currently have four Grammy nominations for Best New Artist, Best Alternative Music Album, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year for Holocene.

History[]

The members of Bon Iver originally joined with the members of a band now called Megafun in the band, DeYarmon Edison. DeYarmond Edison broke up around 2009. Lead singer of the now Bon Iver was sick with mononucleosis for a period of time after the breakup, and while watching a show called Northern Exposure, he decided to name his new band Bon Iver (a version of the French "bon hiver" which means "good winter"). He was inspired by a scene in the series in which people in Alaska wish each other "good winter".

Discography[]

Bon Iver's first album was called For Emma, Forever Ago, and it gained critical acclaim. The song from this album that became particularly famous was Skinny Love, which Bon Iver performed on the David Letterman Show.

Their second album, which was self-titled, was released on June 21, 2011. This album contains the single/song Holocene, which has gotten some Grammy nominations.
