Run the Jewels is a hip-hop group formed by rappers Killer Mike and El-P. Both contribute vocals to the project, while all the production for the group is done by El-P.

Biography[]

Jamie Meline (El-P) and Mike Render (Killer Mike) had both been well established as solo acts before working together as Run the Jewels. The two first collaborated when El-P produced Killer Mike's 2012 album, R.A.P Music. Later that same year, Killer Mike contributed a guest verse to the song Tougher Colder Killer on El-P's album Cancer 4 Cure. The two decided they wanted to collaborate further and formed the group Run the Jewels in 2013. The group released their self-titled debut album later that year on Fool's Gold Records. In 2014, the duo announced that they were working on a follow-up, and the album Run the Jewels 2 was released in October on Mass Appeal Records. Coinciding with the release of their second album, the group also released a joke remix version of the album called Meow the Jewels in which the vocals were replaced by cat sounds. All proceeds from the sale of this remix album are to be donated to charity.
