Frederick "Freddie" Joseph Bourne III (born March 11, 1992 in Freehold, New JerseyTemplate:Disambiguation needed) is an American singer-songwriter.[1] Bourne is best known for his piano pop covers on the video-sharing website YouTube, where his versions of "Dance Again" by Jennifer Lopez and "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen received attention from Easy FM in China. He released his first solo debut album, Only Human, on August 6, 2013, through iTunes.[2][3]
After a two-year hiatus, Bourne released the experimental EP I Wrote These Songs with Heavy Vibes and a Piano in 2017, followed by an upcoming soft rock EP The Childhood Birthday Nobody Came To in 2018.
Career[]
Bourne began singing at a very young age after learning how to sing and play the theme song from the television show Barney & Friends. He began to sing in public after joining choirs in middle school and eventually fronted two local bands in high school while performing in local talent competitions.[4] His bands, Sahara and Exit 22, performed at the Starland Ballroom and The Stone Pony due to their rising popularity. Exit 22 was planned to perform as a supporting act at Warped Tour 2010 but broke up before the tour stopped in New Jersey.
Bourne began to work with Mick Walsh of The Adventures of Stevie V in 2007 in order to launch his singing career. However, the singles never charted.
After both bands broke up, Bourne began performing covers and original songs as a solo artist, opening up for Tyler Hilton, Patent Pending, and Dion Roy, who is a supporting act for former American Idol contestant Josiah Leming. Bourne also performed during an open mic showcase at The National Underground, where he was offered paid shows. In 2012, Bourne passed the regional round for the fourth season of the American version of The Voice. He was in the top 200 contestants out of 10,000 participants.
In October 2013, Bourne announced on his personal Facebook account that he will performing at the 2014 Special Olympics USA along with his studio band.
Following the death of his mother, Bourne stopped performing for about two years and halted the production of his second album effort The Troubled Boy in Life's Spiral. Bourne marked his return at Maxwell's in Hoboken, New Jersey in June 2016 and released a six-track EP I Wrote These Songs with Heavy Vibes and a Piano on January 27, 2017.
In February 2018, Bourne released the single "50th and 9th in Sao Paulo", which became his first charting single, reaching #24 on the Dutch NED Top 40. Bourne's second EP, The Childhood Birthday Party Nobody Came To, was released on August 7, 2018. It was his first and only release with Poromo Records before parting ways in October 2018.
As a songwriter, Bourne has co-wrote songs for The Voice of Holland's Baggio such as "Lonely at Christmas Time", "Tu Eres Mi Chica", "You Want Me", and "You're a Bitch".
Personal life[]
Bourne originally intended to be an architect and was to study at Temple University but ultimately decided to attend Fairleigh Dickinson University on a theater scholarship. Bourne graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2014, and went on to graduate from Montclair State University with a Master of Arts in 2018. Bourne currently residents in Evansville, Indiana.
In 2012, Bourne was diagnosed with Laryngopharyngeal Reflux Disease (LPR), a condition that occurs when stomach acid travels up through the throat. It is an inflammation of the vocal chords that gives hoarseness in the throat.[5] An avid coffee drinker, Bourne had to stop all caffeine products for over two-months.
