Orvon Eugene (Gene) Autry (september 29, 1907 - October 2, 1998) was an American countrysinger and actor.

Biography[Edit][]

Autry scored hits including Blueberry Hill, a song that was covered by, among others, Glenn MillerLouis ArmstrongFats Domino and Elvis Presley. He is also known for its Christmas songs, such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed ReindeerHere Comes Santa Claus and Frosty the Snow Man.

Autry was also involved in rodeo and possessed shares in rodeo-related companies. He was also co-founder and temporary owner of the record label Challenge Records.

Autry is widely appreciated for his contribution to the music and in Oklahoma was even a village named after him, the Gene Autry. Furthermore, he obtained the following Honorable recordings:
