Girl school is a British hard rock band consisting of four women who was very popular during the 1980s . Girl school plays a mix of heavy metal and punk. They belong to the NWOBHM and are the first female metal band.

The Group was founded in 1977 by guitarist Kim McAuliffe and singer/bass player Enid Williams who lived but a street from each other. Originally called the Painted Ladygroup, with Deirdre Cartwright on the electric guitar and Tina behind the drums. They played especially in local clubs. Deirdre Cartwright was soon replaced with Kathy Valentine, who in turn was replaced by Carla Olson. After the departure of Carla and Tina in 1978 they were replaced by Kelly Johnson and Denise Dufort and the name was changed to Girl school. In 1979 they toured by Great Britain and in continental Europe for OverkillMotörhead during their tour. Also released their first single, "Take it all away", from. Their first album, "Demolition, Demolition" reached the British top 30.

1981 was a good year for the group. Together with Motörhead they released an album under the name "Motörschool Head girl". The "St. Valentine's Day massacre ep ", with the hit "Please don't touch" took the fifth place in the British Top 40. Later that year they released their second album, "Hit and run". The album reached the fifth place in the album chart and the single the 35th place in the British Top 40. In 1982 they released their third album "Screaming blue murder" from. Enid Williams was also replaced by Gil Weston-Jones.

In 1983 they went back into the studio for their fourth album "Play dirty". Kelly Johnson left the Group Later that year and was replaced by Cris Bonacci (lead guitar) and Jackie Bodimead (vocals/keyboards). In 85 she signed a contract with Mercury Records and released their fifth album "Running wild" out. In 1986 came the album "GWR", from which the single "I'm the leader of the gang" who along with Gary Glitter was recorded, was pulled, and left the group before they went back Jackie Bodimead as four; Kim now also took the lead vocals in itself.

Gil Weston-Jones left the Group In 1987 and then to be replaced by Tracey Lamb in 1988 the album "Take a bite" shots. Kim went at the end of 1990, Cris, Denise and Enid collaborate with punksinger Toyah Willcoxrecommended under the name recommended She Devils for Women in Music festival in december ' 90. In the summer of ' 91 replaced Lydie Gallais Denise behind the drums after which they recommended recommended under the name Strange Girls released a demo consisting of 3 numbers. The same year they played at some festivals in Germany, for the Beach Boys. In ' 92 brought the album from girl school, withJackie Carrera on bass. The return of Kelly and Tracey in ' 93 resulted in a tour of Europe, from which the live album in ' 95 recommended recommended Girlschool Live appeared. In 2000 returned the bass player/vocalist Enid and leadgitariste Jackie Chambers back at the band. They released In ' 02, for the 21st anniversary of the album Girlschool, Not ' that Innocent ' from. This album was 3 years previously recorded.Contained 2 new songs songs on: Coming your Way recommended recommended recommended and Innocent. Since the release of their last album, recommended, recommended Believe if girl school different festivals to headline, they played together with Twisted Sisterand Alice Cooper , and they toured in the United Kingdomby the Act for Motörhead. In 2008, the release of new material and a dvd to wait.
