Good Morning Sunshine

"Good Morning Sunshine" was the eighth single to be released by the Scandinavian dance-pop group Aqua overall, and the fifth UK release. The song was the first to not be released across the globe since "Lollipop (Candyman)", and was the second UK release to not make it to number one (with the previous three doing so). The song was released in December of 1998 and peaked at number 18 in the United Kingdom, which was a poor performance compared to previous songs. The poor performance could be partly attributed to it being the fifth release from an album many fans had already bought, and partly to a disappointing video that, unlike others, was just a live performance and lacked any real creativity.

The song itself was similar to "Turn Back Time", with a slower beat to previous tracks. In a documentary released in the early 2000s, the group members Soren Nystrøm Rasted and Claus Norreén played part of an early version of the song, which was similar to their more 'bubble pop' releases. According to the two, the song was going to be released as another pop song, but was changed later on.

Following the release of "Good Morning Sunshine", the group went on an 18 month hiatus in order to go on tour and record their second album, Aquarius.
