[edit] Genre Description
A type of punk that is typically even more politically charged and is often associated with the Straight Edge movement, whose adherents disdain drugs, alcohol, meat and sex. Hardcore is typically much faster than standard punk as well. When the media would do shows on that devil punk music (like the infamous Quincy episode), they would typically be thinking of hardcore. There are many other influences to Hardcore, including jazz and metal as well. Hardcore often, but not always, places a higher importance on technical proficency than normal punk -- probably because of the speed of the changes.
