A type of dance music, typically played in raves and clubs. It is a bit of a combination of disco and electropop. House is typically based around a pounding 4/4 beat and a simple bassline, over which there may be played samples or higher-register riffs, though typically with a lot of air between the samples/riffs, so there are stretches where the bass and drums are the prominent instruments. There are loads of different subgenres, including techno.
