Instrumental Hip-Hop is, oddly enough, Hip Hop minus the Rap. It's very similar to and often rolled up in various electronica-genres, including Trip-Hop and Industrial. DJ Shadow is considered one of the first to make Instrumental Hip-Hop into a genre by itself, though some music that has come before fits the bill as well.
