Artist: Blanche

Album: If We Can't Trust The Doctors...

Appears On (Mixes): Past The Barber and Gymnasium

Song Notes: Blanche are a newish alt-country band from Detroit; I just found them not long ago when they opened for The Ditty Bops (along with Purty Mouth, who would totally be on this compilation quality-wise, except they don't have any of their covers released—though the two originals they have for download are excellent), and bought the record as soon as they left the stage. This is from their only record, If We Can't Trust The Doctors..., which is about as impressive as their show was. Apparently, this album was written when 3 of Dan John Miller's close family members died, and this was his way of grieving for them. It works, though! This song was originally done by The Gun Club; I've never heard any of their music, but this song is so good, it makes me want to check them out. From the stuff I was reading about them, it sounds like they might be rather similar to Blanche, sound-wise, which would make sense, since this is one of the tracks I was floored to learn they didn't write. - Rev.
