Jeanette Anna MacDonald (Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), 1903 - June 18, Houston (Texas), 14 January 1965) was an American actress.

She was born in Philadelphia , the daughter of Daniel MacDonald and Anna May Wright and was WelshEnglish and Dutch. When she was six, she sang Old Mother Hubbard in an opera. When she was 16 she went to Broadway to see occur to her sister and got offered an audition. They won the role and was not much later also on Broadway. From 1929 she went in movies playing.

In 1934, she received a contract with MGM. In 1937 she married actor Gene Raymond and they remained married until her death. She died in 1965 of aheart attack.
