Jennifer Lynn Lopez, also known as Jennifer Lopez or by her nickname J.Lo, is an American singer, actress and dancer.

Career[]

Early days[]

She began her professional career as a dancer in 1989, being appeared as a Fly Girl dancer on the 1990 sketch comedy television series In Living Color from 1991 to 1993. She pursue an acting career in 1993, where she portrayed the title character in the 1997 biographical musical drama film Selena. Lopez went on to portray Terri Flores in the 1997 film Anaconda, and then as Karen Sisco in the 1998 film Out of Sight.

Musical career[]

Lopez launched her musical career in 1999, due to she had missed "the excitement of the stage". She signed with Work Group and released her debut album, On the 6 on June 1, 1999. Her second studio album, J.Lo was released in early 2001.

Lopez then went on to release two albums in 2002. The first was a remix album, named J to tha L-O! The Remixes, which featured remixes from her first two studio albums, On the 6 and J.Lo. Lopez's third studio album, This Is Me... Then was released in late 2002.

Following a media criticism and several box office failures between 2003 and 2005, she released her fourth album, Rebirth on February 23, 2005. Lopez released two albums in 2007. Her fifth album, Como Ama una Mujer was her first album to be recorded entirely in Spanish. Her sixth album Brave which released in late 2007, was considered a "disappointing album" from the critics.

After a 2-year hiatus, Lopez released two songs in late 2009, "Louboutins" and "Fresh Out of the Oven". The songs were intended for her seventh studio album but both two songs failed to chart at the Billboard. This leading to Lopez's departure from Sony Music and Epic Records.

Lopez joined the judging panel of the singing competition series American Idol in 2011. The show returned her to prominence. She returned as a judge for Seasons 11, 13 until its intended final season with 15. After singing a new contract with Island Records, Lopez released her seventh album Love? in early 2011.

Her eighth album A.K.A. came in mid-2014 through Capitol Records.
