John Miles (Jarrow23 april 1949) is an English musician and composer. He is well known by its large world hit Music (was my first love) .

Biography[Edit]Edit

At a young age learned to play piano and guitar John Miles. At eighteen, he played in the semi-professional band The Influence, with guitarist Vic Malcolm and drummer Paul Thompson (drummer for Roxy Musicfrom 1971). After the break-up of this band formed John under their name, a band that brought mainly soul covers. Also this was not a success and John started with composing.

Alan Parsons In 1976 produced the first LP by John Miles: Rebel. The rock ballad Music (was my first love) became a worldwide hit and led to a U.s. tour with Elton John. This is the only hit by Miles in Netherlands.The albums and singles that John Miles, then made were much less successful. The numbers Highfly (1975) and Slow Down (1976) came to medium height in the charts by the US and UK.

After his own career crashed then worked as a studio musician for other artists John Miles. He is best known as a regular guitarist for Tina Turner; with whom he toured from 1987. Alan Parsons Project when he sang a number of songs, including La Sagrada Familia in 1987. In 1992 he accompanied Joe Cocker. John Miles was also by artists like Jethro Tull, Fleetwood Mac, the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Stevie Wonder and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin on tour asked.

He also wrote several songs, including "Now that the magic has gone".

In 1985 John Miles at the first edition of Night of the Proms in Antwerp. Since then he is as a singer and as a leader of the Electric Band a regular feature at Night of the Proms with the exception of 2008, when he was on tour with Tina TurnerMidge Ure replaced him then.
