Johnny Wakelin (Brighton1939) is a British singer.

Life and career[Edit]Edit

Wakelin was born in 1939 in Brighton, Sussex. In the local vocals circuit he was discovered by Robin Blanchflower, who launched Carl Douglas had his career. In 1974 got to write a song about the idea to Wakelin a legendary boxing match, The Rumble in the Jungle between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman that would take place on 30 October 1974 in Zaire. The song Black Superman was, however, no success. The successor of this song, called In Zaire, however, was a worldwide success. After this, had a hit with Wakelin Africa Man.
