Layla is a rock classic Derek and the Dominos . The song came out in 1972 as a single. Following the song is the love of frontman Eric Clapton to Pattie Boyd , former wife of his friend and Beatle George Harrison . The song was inspired by a story about the Persian ( Iranian ) Layla , who is worshiped by Majnun. This is mad about the fact that he is the unattainableLayla would not love to have (see Layla and Majnun ).

In popular culture edit ]Edit

  • Walter Grootaers , lead singer of the Flemish rock group The Kreuners , named his daughter to this song. In 1982 the group itself also released a single that Layla " was called and went about his daughter. However, this song is not a cover of Clapton's song. [1]
  • In the Kiekeboes album Do not shoot the pianist is Constantinople peekaboo in love with a girl named Layla. He explains this to him "sounds like music to the ears" . This is a reference to Clapton's song.
