Lisa Anne Loeb (Bethesda (Maryland)11 March 1968) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist.

Loeb studied at the Hockaday School in Dallas (Texas), one of the most prominent private schools exclusively for girls in the United States. Her father, Peter Loeb, is a gastroenterologist in Dallas. After graduating in 1986, she went to Brown University, where she graduated in 1990 in comparative literature. At Brown University, she and Liz Mitchell formed a band under the name Liz and Lisa. Future singer/songwriter Duncan Sheik and classmate played guitar in the band. Loeb is the first and only artist without record label with a number one hit in the US charts, with the song Stay (I Missed You), from the soundtrack to the film Reality Bites, and later also released on her debut album, Tails (co-produced by Juan Patiño, her boyfriend at the time). Her band Nine Stories is named after a collection of short stories by J. D. Salinger.

Loeb was discovered by actor and friend Ethan Hawke, who lived in an apartment next to her in New York City. Before he got Stay in Reality Bites , Loeb had already a fans, collected by the acoustic performances in a café in New York. Because they originally only with Elizabeth Mitchell occurred, were the albums Liz and Lisa and Liz and Lisa-Days Were Different released: and independent, as well as a solo project called The Purple Tape.

Loeb also has her sights set on acting. Her film debut was a guest at The Nanny in 1997. In 1998, she played the voice of a baby in The Rugrats Movie (and on the soundtrack of this movie appeared the number All Day). In 1999, she played a television reporter in the horror film House on Haunted Hill. In 2004 came the publication of Serial Killing 4 Dummies, in which she had her biggest role so far. In 2004 there was a cooking program called Dweezil & Lisa on the American Food NetworkDweezil Zappa was at that moment her boyfriend. This relationship was terminated in May of that year.

She was also the voice of Mary-Jane Watson produced by MTV in the cartoon Spider-Man: The New Animated Series .

Lisa Loeb changed again In 2004 by record label Artemis Records , because its not enough promoted. She signed this time at Zoe/Rounder, her fifth album and The Way It Really Is was released in August 2004.This gallery contains many cynical allusions to the end of her relationship earlier that year. Loeb toured by the United States despite low sales figures, Europe and Japan (where they are relatively very popular), so that her fans grew.

At the end of 2005 was officially announced by E! Channel, that Lisa gets its own reality show called "# 1 Single." The film was shot in 2005 in New York where she works on her next album. The concept of the show is the present life of Lisa, in which she is dating again, and will also highlight her wayward lifestyle. The program consists of eight parts.

If they are not touring or her music promotes Lisa Loeb, resides in Los Angeles. According to her Food TV show she is a handsome "ham-eating" vegetarian, which diligently collects Hello Kittystuff.

In January 2005 she released her Very Best Of-album in the United States with the new number Single Me Out, that the beginning tune of her aforementioned reality show is. A Best Of came a year earlier in Japan.

Lisa's style[Edit]Edit

Lisa Loeb is easy recognizable by her glasses – she wears him almost always, and he's so her trademark. Her frames are dark or turtle, or sometimes if the eyes of a cat. She seems a bit like Nana Mouskouri. Loeb says allergic for contact lenses. In the past they often wore designer clothing by Miss Marple and Petro Zillia.
