Little River Band is an Australian rock band who in 1975 in Melbourne was founded. The name of the band is by Birtles Shorrock and taken from a road sign in the direction of the municipality of Little River, near the city of Geelong, there the Australian fans an American name nothing found.
Little River Band was the first Australian sustained commercial success in the United States. During its existence the band has sold more than 25 million albums and he made 13 American top 40 hits. The original members of the band were lead singer Glenn Shorrock, guitarists/vocalists Graeham Goble and Beeb Birtles (Gerard Badash), who both played guitar and sang, and guitarist Ric Formosa, bassist Roger McLachlan and drummer Derek Pellicci. Beeb Birtles is the stage name of Gerard Badash, who was born in 1948 in Amsterdam and emigrated with his parents to Australia in 1957.
The men were first for Queen before they scored a hit in America with "Help Is On Its Way". The album "Sleeper Catcher" was the first Australian album with more than 1 million units were sold in America. Between1978 and 1981 the Little River Band achieved six consecutive top 10 hits in the United States with the markings "Reminiscing", "Lady", "Lonesome Loser", "Cool Change", "The Night Owls" and "Take It Easy On Me".
The band has undergone many other changes in the occupation-so was John Farnham between 1982 and 1986 the lead singer-but still occurs. the three original singers, which collectively all real Little River Band-hits have written, act in addition still under the name Birtles Shorrock Goble -they have the rights to the original name no longer in possession.
