Live and Let Die is the title track of the James Bond in 1973 released feature film Live and Let Die. The song was written by ex-Beatle Paul McCartney and his wife Linda McCartney and was performed by Paul McCartney and Wings on the soundtrack to the film. The song was produced by George Martin, making McCartney for the first time since the recordings of the Beatles Abbey Road album together again worked with the producer of The Beatles.

After George Martin was asked for the score for the new James Bond film, Paul McCartney offered to composethe theme song to write. McCartney and his band Wings took a demo of Live and Let Die on. Film producer Harry Saltzman wanted, however, that a black, female singer would perform the title song. Because McCartney wanted to allow the use of the number only when the number in the implementation of Wings would be heard during the beginning of the film, voted Saltzman agrees to carry out the song Wings for the film.

Live and Let Die by Wings was recorded during the sessions for the album Red Rose Speedway. After the release of the single, there was confusion over the name of the Executive of the number. The single mentions Wings as the Executive, while the soundtrack mentions Paul McCartney and Wings . The single was a worldwide success and reached the top 10 of the charts in several countries. In the United States earned the number two place and Great Britain in the seventh. The song was also nominated in 1973 for a best original song Oscar for.

The song was coveredseveral times. Perhaps the most famous execution is Guns N ' Roses from 1991. This cover reached the charts in several countries, including theDutch Top 40 and the National hit parade and may be more popular than the implementation of McCartney himself.
