Louis Allen Rawls ( December 1, ChicagoLos Angeles1933 - 6 January 2006) was an American soul singer.

In his school days he was friends with the soulsinger Sam Cooke, with whom in the 50 's in a gospel choirTeenage Kings of Harmony sang. After his military service went Rawls singing at the Pilgrim Travelers group. During his tour he got a serious car accident in 1958 . He lay in coma after 5 1/2 day.

In 1962 , he received a contract with the record company Capitol Records. His first R & Bnumber, Love Is a Hurtin' Thing, appeared in 1966 on his album Soulin'. A year later he received his first Grammy for his single " Dead End Street. He would eventually achieve three Grammys in his musical career.

In 1976 he broke worldwide by with the album "All Things in Time" which the song you'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine is. In 1977 , he scored some hits, including See You When I Get There and Lady Love. [1]

In addition to singing, he also appeared as actor in a number of feature films, such as Leaving Las VegasBlues Brothers 2000 and Baywatch Nights.

Lou Rawls was already at the age of 18 from working on a private foundation for children in third world countries and in war zones. He put himself in for charities and has left behind his entire inheritance to charities.

In december 2005 it was announced that Rawls to lung cancer and a brain tumor had suffered. He died on 6 January 2006 in the Los Angeles hospital at the age of 72.
