Artist: IQU

Album: Sun Q

Appears On (Mixes): Past The Barber and Gymnasium

Song Notes: I would have never thought that there would be a cover of this song that was both a) Non-Ironic and b) Good. But, here it is! I really can't stand the original by Minnie Riperton, but IQU (pronounced "ee-koo") is both. It's an instrumental cover with a theremin doing the vocal line—in fact, that's one of the most interesting things with IQU; they're one of the few bands that uses a theremin and actually knows how to play it well. It's amazing to watch them live, because it's just two of them (although, live, they add another musician) with a pile of equipment; synths, turntables, guitars, drums, and the theremin, but they get so many cool sounds out, and it sounds really full. This is from their second album Sun Q, and it's got some of the most interesting packaging I've seen (although a standard jewelcase edition exists as well). - Rev. Syung Myung Me
