Luiz Floriano Bonfá [1(October 17, 1922 - January 12, 2001) was a Brazilian guitarist and composer. He made a name for himself as one of the composers of the music for the film Orfeu Negro from 1959. [2[3]

Gotye[Edit][]

The Belgian-Australian artist Gotye shares since 2011 all rights and income to the families of Luiz Bonfá for his success number Somebody That I Used To Know, for which he was inspired by the number Seville from 1967.

Biography[Edit][]

Bonfá was born on 17 October 1922 in Rio de Janeiro. As a child he taught himself to play the guitar. He got from his twelfth lesson of the Uruguayan classical guitaristIsaís Sávio. Although Bonfá this weekly lessons actually could not pay him because of his special, Sávio decided passion and talent on the guitar game for free teaching.

Bonfá died in Rio de Janeiro on January 12, 2001 to prostate cancer. He was 78 years old.
