This is considered one of the least essential Björk albums (at least until Drawing Restraint 9 came out—ecch), but it's really not as bad as all that. Of course, I have to admit, that while when I listen to it, I enjoy it, it's not typically one I go back to. This album was created almost entirely out of vocals and vocal samples—and as such, it's kind of in the more "Interesting Experiment" bin than the "Awesome Record" bin, but it IS surprisingly listenable. "Triumph Of A Heart" is surprisingly poppy, at least for Björk. In a weird sort of way, Medúlla almost feels like Vespertine Part II, but I thought Vespertine was a much, much more successful record and experiment. I tend to go back to Vespertine quite a bit, where Medúlla not nearly as much. Still, though, it doesn't quite deserve the bad rap this album's gotten. It's not Post, but it's not, well, Drawing Restraint 9 either. - Rev. Syung Myung Me
