Artist: John Linnell

Album: State Songs

Appears On (Mixes): Wally's Novelty Mix: She Yo-Yos Me and I Yo-Yo Her Back

Song Notes: This is from John Linnell's (of They Might Be Giants) State Songs project. He's said in interviews that he likes coming up with songs, but is lousy at coming up with titles or subjects, so by writing a song for each of the 50 states, he's set for a while. He's released about 14 or so of them, but apparently he has way more. This was the first state song he wrote, and it sounds the most like an actual state song, aside from the lyrics (most state songs aren't about eating the brain of the state). Most of John Linnell's state songs have very little, if anything, to do with the actual state, and typically mention them in passing if at all. Some of them are really great pop songs, and others are more experimental, like the four or so on that record recorded with the band organ, the limited-range instrument that is used to make music for carousels (and is kind of like a giant music box). - Rev.
