Artist: Ween
Album: Shinola V. 1
Appears On (Mixes): Thirteen Ugly Children Roll Gutterballs, Dub Club: Matt's 2005 Best Of -- Streets Named For New England Trees
Song Notes: Thirteen Ugly Children Roll Gutterballs: This song originally appeared on the self-released internet album Craters of the Sac (Even though They Might Be Giants typically get the credit for first Internet MP3 Album with Long Tall Weekend, Ween had them beat by a little bit, and Craters was available for free. However—this is not the Craters version—this is from the new self-released (possibly limited edition?) CD Shinola V. 1. It's just released, and I listened to it the first time and while the entire thing is excellent (especially for a demos and rarities album), this is by far the best track. The original version was one of my favorite Ween songs anyway, but this version is JUST SO MUCH MORE AWESOME. My GOD. I am completely floored by this. I might just have a new Favorite Ween Song Ever. This version is just so awesome, funky, groovin' and above all else BROWN. Holy crap. It basically is so awesome it reduces me to just jabbering about how cool this song is. Oh man. Jaaayzus. You need this album. - Rev. Syung Myung Me
Dub Club: Matt's 2005 Best Of -- Streets Named For New England Trees: It's surprising when a band releases and Odds & Sods compilation, and it contains your new favorite song from that band. Then again, some Odds & Sods compilations are excellent albums as well (The Fastbacks' Truth, Corrosion & Sour Bisquits or They Might Be Giants' Miscellaneous T come to mind), so there you go. Anyway, this was originally recorded for the self-bootlegged release Craters Of The Sac, but this is a completely new version—and far superior (though I loved the original as well). I really like Ween's excursions into funk. - Rev. Syung Myung Me
