Song Notes: One of the more song-based Negativland tracks, and it's such a catchy one. This live version has a sample added to the beginning that was also used on the Points album, I think, though it's been a while, so I could be wrong on that one. It's been used before, though, and that's my point. And that was actually what I thought "A Bee Fly" was when I was originally culling, but I liked it anyway, so I kept it. Anyway, one of the things I like about the early-era Negativland was the way they'd tend to celebrate (and I think only half-ironically) the mundane aspects of life. And, well, you don't get much more mundane than having to throw out soda on a camping trip. I think the Dispepsi album colored this song a little different, increasing the irony dial on it, and underlining the commentary on the amount of brands and products there are out there, but there's definitely that real-life aspect of the song that makes it so strong, really. It works on both levels—commercial commentary as well as a commentary on our modern lives. - Rev. Syung Myung Me
