[edit] Genre Description
A label for music coming out of the 1970s CBGBs scene when it became clear that "Punk" wasn't fitting the bill. (And because label consultants for Sire said that "Punk" was just a fad.) Typically New Wave had more experimentation and synthesizers, and moved in a more Pop direction, although originally it was all just "Punk".
