Nirvana was one of the most known bands of the grunge era and one of the defining bands, in the public mind, of the "Seattle Sound" of the early 1990s. Members include: singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain, bassist Krist Noveselic and drummer Dave Grohl. Nirvana was formed by Cobain and Noveselic in Aberdeen Washington, 1987. During their first year Nirvana played with many different drummers and would finally decide on Chad Channing to become their full-time drummer. In November 1988 Nirvana recorded their first single "Love Buzz" on a Seattle independent label Sub Pop. In October 1988, following the release of their single, the band started to record their debut album, "Bleach". The band ended with the death of Kurt Cobain. His death is surrounded with controversy; while the official cause of death reports that he was killed by a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head, there is a school of thought that he was murdered by his wife, Courtney Love, and it was made to look like suicide. The other members went into other projects, though the most successful was Dave Grohl, who formed Foo Fighters.
