Template:Artist One Direction (commonly abbreviated as 1D) is a British/Irish boy band whose members include Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan. One Direction was formed in the seventh series of the popular British televised singing competition The X Factor.
Propelled by social media, One Direction quickly became international celebrities, their four albums broke records, and topped charts in several countries. Their album, Midnight Memories was the biggest selling album of 2013, despite being released in late November. In 2014 One Direction was named top artist of the year by Billboard.
In March 2015, Zayn Malik announced he was leaving One Direction.
