Paul Albert Anka (Ottawa, July 30, 1941) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, songwriter and actor of Lebanese descent who since 1990 has the American nationality .
In 1957 he became famous with his hit Diana, leading to the highest top of the hit parade lap and nine million times over the counters went. Also its successors were hits and Anka became a teen idol.
Anka also wrote hits for others: It doesn't matter anymore for Buddy Holly, she's a lady for Tom Jones and My way for his good friend Frank Sinatra. Anka is also known as a younger version of Frank Sinatra called.
He also began to acting. One of his best-known films is The Longest Day, for which he also wrote the title song. After several years without a hit, he sang a duet with Odia Coates in 1974: Having my baby. In 2005, he received a star on Canada's Walk of Fame.
From 1963 to 2000, he was married with Anne de Zogheb, with whom he had five daughters.
Paul Anka performs regularly on. He was to see and hear in 2007 at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam. Also appeared in that year, the double album Classic songs-My way to celebrate its 50th anniversary in the box. On this album he again brings jazz versions of well-known songs, but where on Rock swings rock numbers are edited, are the this time pop classics. Also on the album are some notable duets such as My way with Bon Jovi and You are my destiny with Michael Bublé. Of the latter has Anka the debut album produced. In October 2009 it was announced that Paul Anka also the song This is it Michael Jackson 's has written.
