Paul Hardcastle (London10 december 1957) is a British composer and musician, specializing in the synthesizer. In the early 1980s, he was a member of the dance group Direct Drive and First Light, before deciding on a solo career. In 1985 , he scored in Great Britain and Netherlands a number-1-hit with the song a dance plate 19, in which samples were processed by a TV documentary about Viet Nam war veterans suffering from the post-traumatic stress disorder. The number 19 refers to the average age of the American soldiers during the Viet Nam war. This lag that is lower than that of the Second World War, there were the soldiers on average 26 years old.
