Poco is an American country rock band founded in 1968 after the breakup of Buffalo Springfield. The band is seen as the pioneer for the country-rock that inspired bands such as The Eagles . [source? ]Poco is the first band that this sound is heard on the LP. However they have never had the success, that The Eagles had later. [source?]

First years[Edit][]

The first occupation existed in addition to the old Buffalo Springfield members singer and rhythm guitarist Richie Roe and Jim Messina (lead guitar and vocals) from Rusty Young, (steel guitar and dobro), George Grantham (drums and vocals) and Randy Meisner (bass guitar and vocals). The latter left the band already before the release of the first LPPickin'up the pieces. He will help the group after a few side tracks to setThe Eagles ; Timothy b. Schmit albums succeeded him. The Poco Deliverin' (1971) and (1972) followed in this occupation, then mid-October 1972 Messina left the band with Kenny Loggins the duo Loggins & Messina to be set up. Paul Cotton succeeded him and brought some more rock and roll with it. The following three Lps "From the inside", "A good feelin' to know" and "Crazy Eyes" had appeared when Roe beginning 1974, disappointed in the success, left the band in Souther Hillman and Roe Band on scuba diving and finally who hit to score where he so yearned for. [source?]

After the departure of Richie Roe[Edit][]

The third period of the band begins with Seven, after which the transitional album Cantamos appears, an album which for the first time the songwriter talents of Rusty Young is heard. Live was then a required number to satisfy the record company. At ABC appear then Head over heelsRose of cimarron and Indian Summer, after which in 1977 Schmit and Grantham Poco left; they were replaced by Steve Chapman and Charlie Harrison. Ironically went Schmit Randy Meisner on bass at The Eagles replaced. The foursome Legend took on in 1979 with the hits In the heart of the night and Crazy love, the latter was a millionseller, after which Kim Bullard the group in mid-1980 came and with them recorded four albums: Under the gunBlue and grayCowboys and Englishmen and Ghost town. On the subsequent album, Inamorata (1984) grooming Roe Schmit and Grantham backingvocals.

Legacy (1989) (produced by Richard Marx), with the big hit, Call it loveis a reunië of the original line-up with Randy Meisner and Jim Messina.

Present[Edit][]

Poco exists and still touring. The group gathers Lps and touring through Europe and North America. In addition, the members solo projects. The current line-up is: founding member Rusty Young, Paul Cotton old-timers (since 1973), Jack Sundrud (since 1987) (bass guitar and vocals). As drummer novice George Lawrence because George Grantham got a stroke during a concert in 2004. Poco's latest albums are Running horse (2003), Keeping the legend alive, including dvd (2004), Bareback at big sky (2005, an unplugged cd), The Wildwood sessions (2006) and the newly recovered live recordings from 1977 with Grantham, Schmit and a surprise appearance by Furray: The last roundup (2006).

In 2009 there was a reunion place with Timothy b. Schmit, Richie Roe and Jim Messina during an American countryfestival (Stagecoach). Paul Cotton of Poco stepped In april 2010. He was replaced by keyboard player and singer Micheal Webb. In this occupation is one in 2011 started to to take up a new album.
