Genre DescriptionEdit

There are many forms of polka around the world, and each region has its own variation on the form, though what is traditionally thought of as "polka" is the 2/4 time Czech music. They often get a bad rap, though polka music is beloved by many -- in the 1940s and 1950s it was the pre-eminent form of pop music. Recently other bands like Brave Combo have been combining traditional polkas with other forms of pop and rock music as well, and their albums are often a mix of traditionial-style polkas from around the world and pop-songs that often use polka-influenced instrumentation.
