Song Notes: I love Raymond Scott. For reals. I think I've said before here that if I had my druthers, Jazz music would be basically evenly split between stuff like this, stuff like Otomo Yoshihide's and the Forbidden Zone soundtrack. This song is actually really recognizable and I'd bet you know it, even if you don't think you do. It's two parts, and both of which have been used in slightly different arrangements for cartoons. The middle part is typically used during machine scenes in cartoons, the outside parts are often used in more haywire-type situations. Also, a messed-up version of "Powerhouse" shows up in the accordion solo to "Rhythm Section Want Ad" by They Might Be Giants. Also, it's used as the backing to DEVO's "Fraulein". And there's probably a few other places. I know that Mike Doughty has used a couple of Raymond Scott records for backings on Soul Coughing songs. In fact, "Bus To Beezlebub" uses "Powerhouse" too. Wow. - Rev. Syung Myung Me
