Formed in 1984 in Scotland by Jesus and Mary Chain drummer Bobby Gillespie signing to Creation. Started out playing 'flower power'-type pop similar to the Byrds combined with the garage rock of the Rolling Stones and the Stooges. The band continued in this vein until the release in 1991 of the revolutionary 'Screamadelica' album which fused acid-house and rock more succesfully than any previous band.

The 'Scream followed this up with the less original but more accessable 'Give Out But Don't Give Up', dismissed by many as nothing more than a Stones pastiche with some funk thrown in for good measure.
