[edit] Genre Description

Prog is typically known for its artiness (some would say pretentiousness) and combining of many other genres, including Classical and Jazz. Prog is often closely related with Metal as well, though it tends to be a bit lighter and experimental. Prog compositions tend to be complex and long (some would say noodly), and typically performed on standard rock instruments, though often with much in the way of studio experimentation.

And, as an aside, isn't the cover art to In The Court Of The Crimson King pretty much the ugliest record sleeve ever? With the possible exception of that one Royal Trux album with the toilet filled with puke with "RTX" written in frosting on it? I'm not sure which I'd rather look at. Eugh. But that's neither here nor there.
