"Purple Haze"is a song by Jimi Hendrix, written in 1967, that was released as the second single by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. It later appeared on the US version of the album Are You Experienced. The song is one of the "archetypical psychedelic drug songs of the sixties" become.
In March 2005, Q magazine placed "Purple Haze" at number one of the list The 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks. Rolling Stone placed it at number 17 of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and at number 2 of list 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time.
Reportedly the song arose after producer Chas Chandler heard Hendrix play the riff backstage and suggested that he would write a text. Chandler says that the text never shortened, while Hendrix claimed that the original text was much longer. Haider denied itself that the song had anything to do with drugs; According to him, it was no more than a love song. He said the phrase "Whatever it is, that girl put a spell on me" is the key phrase of the song.
