Riccardo Cocciante (in French; Richard Cocciante) (SaigonViet Nam20 February 1946) is a French-Italian singer. On his eleventh year established his family in Rome and there he learned Italian, while until then always had spoken French.

Inspired by operas, the great classical works, and also by blues and The Beatles , he wanted to be like singer. He was therefore the raw voice of the band ' The Nations '.In addition, he began teaching himself to play the piano.

In 1972 his first album in Italy went ' Mu ' (Lemurie) premiere. Soon after this album was also released in French, under the title ' Atlantic ' (Atlantis). The next Italian album was ' Poesia '. The success, however, came only a year later in Italy and in Spain with the song: ' Bella senz'anima ' (' nice but without a soul '). This song was from the album ' Anima ', with songs selected by film music composer Ennio Morricone.

In 1978 he completed the album in collaboration with Vangelis : ' Concerto per Magherita '. This album was later also released in Spanish as "Concierto por Margarita '.

In 1983 , he released his album ' Sincerita ', with which he obtained international fame.

In total, he published some 35 albums, the most recent in 2005 entitled ' Songs '. The last years Riccardo mainly with composing musicals, which he himself calls ' new pop operas '. Some examples are ' Notre Dame de Paris ', ' Le petit prince ' and ' Giulietta e Romeo, "which premiered in 2007 in Verona.

Although Italy and France is now in a greatness Cocciante, he is relatively unknown in Netherlands and Flanders. Nevertheless, the numbers of Cocciante covered in form known: Marco Borsato has the numbers ' I no longer live for you ' (Cervo a primavera), ' why (Quando finisce un amore) well you ' and ' Margherita ' Sung. André Hazes covered ' Se stiamo insieme ', that ' I live my own life ' was. Danny de Munk made of this song They never once said ' I love you '. ' Beyond ' by Paul de Leeuw is a Dutch rendition of ' Per lei/Pour Elle '. By ' Ancora ', written by Cocciante, but sung by Mina, André Hazes made ' no Never '. Also ' Vista ' and ' a child from overseas by Liesbeth List are originally designed by Riccardo Cocciante. "All because of you" by Bart Peeters is a cover of ' Celeste Nostalgia '.
