ReviewEdit

The first Sgt. Major LP is basically what you'd expect from Kurt Bloch's new band—awesome rock in the Fastbacks vein. As with The Fastbacks he writes all the non-covers and there's a female vocalist just like The Fastbacks and a revolving-door drummer like The Fastbacks. Yet, I think I like Sgt. Major BETTER than the Fastbacks. (Don't get me wrong, I love the Fastbacks, too!) They're a great live band, and the album has a bit of a live sound to it as well (as is typically Kurt Bloch's producing style), though very well recorded (remember, Kurt won a grammy for production!). I think a big market for this record will be fans of the Fastbacks and The Young Fresh Fellows, but anyone who enjoys good, straight-forward Rock will enjoy this album. The songs are well-written and well produced, and the playing on it is excellent, and, well, it's just a FUN record. And is it possible to go wrong with a record named after the Good Morning Burger? - Rev. Syung Myung Me
