Richard Tauber, actually Richard Denemy ( May 16, LinzLondon1891 - January 8, 1948) was an Austrian tenor.

In the press , he became the "King of the Bel Canto" called. The composer Franz Lehar 's operettawrote several special on the voice and personality of Richard Tauber.

Richard Tauber was the son of the unmarried mother Elisabeth Denemy and the actor Anton Richard Tauber. He came on 16 may in a hotel in Linz in the world and only got in 1913 by adoption the name of his father. Because of the occupation of his mother, she was soubrette and stood on stage night after night, he could not at home growing up and is therefore brought up in a foster family.

At the end of 1947 he was in "Guys Hopital" operated in London. He died on January 8, 1948, only 56 years old, to lung cancer.

Despite his celebrity left Tauber a tax debt after of 750,000 D-mark. On his farewell concert at London's Royal Albert Hall was among the 7,000 attendees held a collection to pay the debts.

In the music film "Du bist die Welt für mich", was to see and hear Rudolf Schock in the role of Richard Tauber.
