Artist: Shonen Knife

Album: Heavy Songs

Appears On (Mixes): The Boys And Girls Are Lifting Up Their Plates

Song Notes: A bit of sad news behind this one; on Friday, Mana "China" Nishiura died in a car accident in Delaware with her band DMBQ. Oh, boo-hoo-hoo!! She was possibly more known as a support drummer for Shonen Knife from 2000-2003. This song is from the album Heavy Songs, and is one of the few Shonen Knife recordings she appears on—she performs backing vocals on this one. This is a cool song, although I wish it were happier circumstances that brought it to you. This is from the Japanese edition of the album; it was released domestically a year or two later, although I don't know if it came out in the US as an English-language edition as most of their albums do (including their upcoming one, Genki Shock! on Oglio), or if it was just a copy of the Japanese release. English versions exist for almost all Shonen Knife songs -- Naoko Yamano prefers to write in English, then translate to Japanese for Japanese audiences. This is a really fun one, though.
