Song Notes: If you've been reading my lj, or know me in person, it probably shouldn't come as a suprise that I'm a huge Kinks fan, especially in the last year. So I was very excited to find that Ray Davies was releasing his first official solo album (of all new material, at least) - Other People's Lives this year. Of course I got it as soon as I could, and I've been pretty pleased with it. It's not as good as most of The Kinks' better work, but still a very solid effort and it definately proves that Ray is one of the rare songwriting geniuses that hasn't "lost it" as time has rolled on (he's about 62 now, I believe). About half the songs on the album immediately clicked with me (like this one), and most of the others have really grown on me hugely. There are a few that aren't really up to scratch, but generally it's great stuff and well worth going out and buying at your local record shop, asap! :) -Ailas
