"San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)", released in some countries as" San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair) ", is a song by Scott McKenzie. It was in May and June 1967, on the eve of the Summer of Love, by CBS Records (in the United Kingdom) and Adlers Ode Records label (in the United States) issued. On the b-side was written by McKenzie "what's the Difference". 
It was written by John Phillips (of The Mamas & The Papas) and produced by Phil Phillips and Lou Adler. They organized the Monterey Pop Festival in June 1967 and were assisted by McKenzie, who urged Phil lips to promote the event to write a song.  he wrote the song In half an hour.  the music was in a nightly session included in The Sound Factory in Los Angeles.  With "San Francisco" became the listener called in peace to come to San Francisco .   McKenzie sings of the hippie culture and further flowerpower.
The American music magazine Billboard predicted already two weeks after the release that "San Francisco" a classic in the genre would be.  the single turned out to be a very great success. There were a total of more than thirteen million copies sold.  In the United States peaked "San Francisco" in fourth place.  McKenzie scored a number one hit in the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Norway, among others, Austria and Germany. It stood in late 1967 on the first place of the Top 100 of the year at theParool Top 20chart of Netherlands, the public.
